The boat
Valhalla de Tortuga
A sailing vessel undergoing an extensive refit in Mexico.
Tortuga is a ferrocement-hulled vessel with a rigging plan that is evolving into a single-mast sloop. The refit brings together the rig, electrical systems, steering and interior as parts of the same project.
On the drawing board
- Rigging
- Single-mast sloop conversion with Dyneema standing rigging.
- Electrical
- Planned 48V house system, solar generation, and separate 24V/12V services.
- Comfort aboard
- Refrigeration, three-zone marine air conditioning and an interior shaped around life aboard.
- Steering
- Retained rebuilt cylinder, a planned replacement helm pump and a compatible autopilot to be selected.
These descriptions reflect the current plan. Final measurements and technical checks come before equipment orders and installation.
