Boat systems

Planning life aboard

Designing the electrical system around the way the boat will be used.

The electrical plan is built around a 48V house bank, with separate 24V and 12V services for equipment that needs them. Solar generation is a central part of the design.

Refrigeration, water, lighting, navigation and air conditioning all have to fit into that plan. The current air-conditioning concept has three seawater-cooled zones; final equipment selection and sizing are still under review.

These are plans for the refit, not a claim that the systems are already installed. As selections turn into installation work, this journal will document the details and the lessons.
